Sun set on the Taj Mahal. Building began in 1631, as a monument to Mumtaz Mahel (2nd wife ) of Shan Jahan who died during childbirth in 1631. They had 14 children. He was so heartbroken that he build the Taj to immortalize his Wife, as a monument of eternal love.
The Taj stands on a raised, square platform(186 x 186 feet), central dome is 58' diameter and rises to a height of 213'.
